Important
If you want to keep backed-up data saved to the app using GT-1000 version 1.11 or earlier, follow the steps below to back up the data to the cloud before updating your GT-1000 system program to version 3.01. You can then use GT-1000 version 3.01 to restore the backed-up data.
* When performing the backup, use the older version of the app (Ver.1.0.4).
* When specifying where in the cloud to save the data, select iCloud Drive if you're using an iOS device or Google Drive if you're using an Android device.

STOMPBOX SETTING
* The backup of STOMPBOX SETTING data is carried out via the GT-1000, and so performing the procedure described below erases the STOMPBOX SETTING data currently saved on the GT-1000. To save the current settings, before you execute the backup, carry out the steps in the sequence of 1 -> 2 -> 5 -> 6 to save the data.
ALL DATA BACKUP
* The ALL DATA BACKUP operation is carried out via the GT-1000, and so performing the procedure described below erases all settings currently saved on the GT-1000. To save the current settings, before you execute the backup, carry out the steps in the sequence of 1 -> 2 -> 5 -> 6 to save the data.

Important

- Tap the [EXPORT] button.
- Tap [CLOUD], then tap the [NEXT] button.
- Select the LIVE SET to save to the cloud, then tap the [EXPORT] button.
- The screen for the cloud is displayed. Select the destination for saving to the cloud, then carry out the backup.
STOMPBOX SETTING
* The backup of STOMPBOX SETTING data is carried out via the GT-1000, and so performing the procedure described below erases the STOMPBOX SETTING data currently saved on the GT-1000. To save the current settings, before you execute the backup, carry out the steps in the sequence of 1 -> 2 -> 5 -> 6 to save the data.
- Tap [MENU].
- Tap the [STOMBOX DATA BACKUP] button.
- At RESTORE, go to "FROM FILE" and select the data you want to back up, then restore it to the not-yet-updated GT-1000.
- Wait for the message "COMPLETED!" to appear.
- At BACKUP, tap "TO CLOUD", then export the data.
- The screen for the cloud is displayed. Select the destination for saving to the cloud, then carry out the backup.

- The screen for the cloud is displayed. Select the destination for saving to the cloud, then carry out the backup.
HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
Before you start, check the system program version of your GT-1000.
- While holding down [ EXIT ] button, turn power ON.
Continue to hold down EXIT until the GT-1000 logo appears on the display. - After a short while, the version information appears on the display.
If this shows the latest version (Version 3.01 or later), there's no need to update your GT-1000. - After verifying the displayed version, turn off the power.

This mode is used to call up patches saved in the unit. - MANUAL ( MANUAL Mode )
This mode allows accessing functions assigned to the system or individual patches by using number switches [ 1 ] through [ 5 ]. - PEDALBOARD ( PEDALBOARD Mode )
This mode allows use with the same feel as having Compact Effectors arranged on a pedalboard.
The respective switches are used to toggle the effects on and off.
The PEDALBOARD Mode has no concept of patches or memories. Edited values are saved without having to execute a write operation.
- MEMORY ( MEMORY Mode )
- Bass support was added.
16 types of bass effects are now built in.
3 AIRD PREAMP types for bass have been added.
2 AIRD OUTPUT SELECT types for bass have been added.
5 SP TYPE types for bass have been added.

BIN DRUM ECHO - A level meter was added to the INPUT LEVEL setting screen.
Set the input level so that the input-level peak is positioned at the ? symbol. - At the Play screen, a function that allows direct editing has been added to the "Show functions assigned to main unit and external switches" screen.
- Press the PAGE [ < ] and [ > ] buttons at the same time to start editing.
- Turn the [ 6 ] knob to select the switch to edit.
- Press the [ 6 ] knob to move to the function selection screen.
- Turn the [ 6 ] knob to select a function.
- Press the [ 6 ] knob to confirm the selected function.
- Press the PAGE [ < ] and [ > ] buttons at the same time to quit editing.
- Settings have been added to [CONTROL FUNCTION] - [FUNCTION (EXP1 PEDAL, EXP 2, EXP 3)].
FV+TUNER: This assigns a volume pedal. Turning down the pedal completely displays TUNER.
FV+TUNER/PFX: This assigns a volume pedal or pedal effect. When a volume pedal is assigned, turning down the pedal completely displays TUNER.
- A CURRENT NUMBER pedal LED setting and automatic setting function were added.
- A TIME parameter was added to TYPE: WARP for MASTER DELAY. This lets you adjust the speed of change.
- The METRONOME can now also be turned ON or OFF using press the knob.
- When BPM or DELAY TIME has been selected using the KNOB SETTING, the setting value can now also be changed by operating press the knob.
- The detecting accuracy of the monophonic tuner has been improved.
- The arrangement of MENU items has been improved.

Functionality Improvements
The following bugs were fixed.
- SP.SIMULATOR part, which was in the MAIN OUT and SUB OUT blocks, has been separated from them.
"MAIN / SUB SP.SIMULATOR block" and "MAIN OUT and SUB OUT block" were newly created, and the SP.SIMULATOR locations can be freely changed. - Performing a save operation after editing STOMPBOX is no longer necessary.
All patches using the same STOMPBOX are immediately updated with the edited values. - Addition of variable color setting to the AUTO setting of FOOT SW LED.
- The MAIN and DRY sequence of the USB port was changed.
* If settings have already been made using a digital audio workstation (DAW) or the like, redo the settings. - BPM tracking during tempo syncing with an external MIDI device has been improved.
- The output speed for MIDI OUT has been improved.
- Starting and stopping LOOPER playback from BOSS TONE STUDIO is now possible.
- A LEVEL parameter has been added to GLOBAL EQ.
- TUNER was added to TARGET in ASSIGN SETTING.
- For HARDWARE SETTING KNOB settings, USB MIX LEVEL, GLOBAL EQ, AIRD PREAMP, and TOTAL REVERB have been added as parameters for TARGET.

- The GT-1000 hangs under certain conditions when connected to an external MIDI device.
- Noise is produced under certain conditions.

- At the TUNER screen, the tuner sometimes fails to operate.
- In a patch change immediately after a WRITE or EXCHANGE operation to a different patch, the sound sometimes fails to play correctly.
- When KNOB SETTING is used to assign DISTORTION 2 LEVEL (BOTTOM), BOTTOM (LEVEL) changes.
- The sound fails to be changed when STOMPBOX data backed up to BOSS TONE STUDIO is restored.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR GT-1000

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
- If you update on the normal mode of GT-1000 against the correct procedrue, this update data may destroy the system program.
- Never power-off your GT-1000 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the GT-1000 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. - We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded "gt1000_sys_v301.zip" file on your computer to get the update file in the "gt1000_sys_v301" folder.
PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
- Hold down [ WRITE ] button and turn on the power.
* Continue to hold down WRITE until "GT-1000 Updater" appears on the display. - Connect the computer to the GT-1000's USB port by a USB cable.
- Open the "GT-1000" drive folder in your personal computer.
With WindowsWithin My Computer (or Computer), open "GT-1000" (or Removable Disk).With macOS / OS XOn the desktop, open the "GT-1000" icon.
- Copy (drag and drop) the "GT-1000_UPA_up.bin" in the "gt1000_sys_v301" folder into the root directory of the "GT-1000" drive.
- After the copy has been completed, unmount or remove the drive on your computer.
With WindowsRight-click on the "GT-1000" icon in My Computer (or the "Removable Disk (*:)" icon) and execute "Eject."With macOS / OS XDrag the "GT-1000" icon to the Trush icon in the Dock.
- Disconnect the USB cable.
The message "Execute update ? ([WRITE]: execute, [Power off]:abort)" will appear on the display. - Press [ WRITE ] button to start the update process.
- The message "Update completed." will appear on the display when the update process completes.
- Turn the GT-1000 power off.
Please verify the version number "3.01" with the procedure described in "How to tell the version" part of this document.
